With Covid-19 vaccines being distributed at break-neck speeds, Los Angeles has begun to open up just in time for every weed lover’s favorite holiday: 420! We took it upon ourselves to find some onf the more interesting and fun events in and around our area so that you can plan great day for you and your friends- be it more fun and laid back!
1. Get your weed and edibles at Green Earth Co.
First things first, you’ll obviously want to stock up on all of your weed, edibles, tinctures, drinks and other cannabis treats from Green Earth Co. The first 800 people that come in get a free goodie bag of either smokable or non-smokable items. The smokable items may include flowers, cartridges and pre-rolls and the non-smokable items you may find include edibles, tinctures and drinks!
2. Curl up at home for the Spliff Virtual Film Fest:
SPLIFF is where filmmakers, artists, animators, and stoners share original film shorts that examine and/or celebrate cannabis and its liberating effects on our imaginations, appetites, libidos, and creative energies. At SPLIFF, you’ll see films that will make you laugh, films that will make you think, and films that will make you ask, “What the fuck was that?!” SPLIFF is a film festival by stoners, for stoners. Some shows include an optional live viewing party so you can enjoy this amazing lineup of stoner films with a live audience.
3. If cannabis education is your thing, the Cannabinoids in Clinical Practice conference is in full swing!
For the more astute Cannabis User, The Cannabinoids in Clinical Practice Conference is a comprehensive forum on the science behind cannabis, its potential therapeutic benefits and the societal and health impacts of legalization of non-medical cannabis from leading researchers and physicians. Due to covid, this event will be hosted virtually adn will provide asynchronous access to the speaker presentations and exhibitor booths for up to a month following the event.
4. Get your vaccinated friends together for the 420 Double Feature: Half Baked and Pineapple express
Enjoy some modern classic 420 films at the Mint on April 20th!
Hosted by the Well Actually podcast & featuring stand up comedy sets from Holly Anabel Brown and Kane Holloway, this promises to be a fun night with friends. Covid policies are strictly enforced and proper distancing and masks are required with temperature checks at the door. The double feature admission includes both films. Group are seated together in tables or booths and their outdoor patio is 420 friendly.
5. See what’s new in the art world at the Amy Sherald Exhibition
For the Artsy types, spark up or munch on some edibles and head over the brand new Amy Sherald exhihbit at Hauser & Wirth called “The Great American Fact”
Amy sherald is one of America’s defining contemporary portraitists and she will be unveiling 5 new paintings in her west coast solo exhibition.
The Great American Fact’ expands Sherald’s effort to, as the artist states, ‘paint the things I wish to see’ by depicting Black Americans in scenes of leisure and centered in stillness. With these new group portraits and paintings of individuals, Sherald builds upon techniques she employed in her iconic portraits of former First Lady Michelle Obama and Breonna Taylor for Vanity Fair. Through her distinctive use of portraiture and by challenging accepted notions of American identity, Sherald attempts to restore a broader, fuller picture of humanity.
Weekend standby line begins 20 – 21 March, 11 am – 6 pm. Weekend entry will be allowed on a first come, first served basis. No booking necessary.
6. Feed the munchies at the 1st Annual 420 Chili Cook Off
High Rise presents the 1st Annual 420 chili cook off! They are bringing the Cannabis industry together this 4/20 to find out who has the best chili. Why?? Cuz why not???
The winner gets a 1/1 custom championship belt and $5000 promotional package from HIgh Rise Agency. This spicy event also includes a blunt bar, multiple dab bars, joint bar, chili tasting, and an open bar all day! 7. Looking for something laid back and holistic, try the Smoker’s Club Earth Day and 420 celebration at Bixby Park
Get in touch with mother earth and explore the healing benefits of Herbal medicines at Bixby Park in Long Beach. This spiritual and holistic exploration of cannabis includes Breath work, conscious vendors, interactive art, a drum circle, movement and music and of course a whole lot of plant medicine. Starting aptly at 4:20 with a $4.20 suggested donation to participate.
